Interwoven
Design Brief
Interwoven is a textile project developed during my travels through Japan in 2024. The project explores the intersections of place, tradition, and personal experience through handwoven fabric. During my time abroad, I had the opportunity to work with a traditional Japanese loom - an experience that deeply informed the tactile and conceptual direction of the work.
The fabric was handwoven using locally sourced natural fibres, with a focus on sustainability and texture. The use of a traditional Japanese loom allowed for an authentic engagement with centuries-old techniques, while the design process incorporated modern sensibilities in pattern, form, and colour.
